Research-Based Approach
Executive Function
-
Executive function (EF) refers to a set of cognitive processes that enable individuals to plan, organize, initiate, monitor, and adapt their behavior to achieve goals. This approach focuses on enhancing these skills to improve productivity and success in various aspects of life.
-
Research Foundation: Executive function models traditionally highlight working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility. Research by Adele Diamond (2013) clarifies EF concepts and measurement, while Paul Ibbotson (2023) examines mechanisms of change in EF development across the lifespan. Sabine Doebel (2020) presents a developmental perspective, viewing EF as skills for using control in goal-directed behavior.
Social Learning
-
Emphasizes the importance of social interactions and relationships in learning. By developing better communication and collaboration skills, individuals can navigate social situations effectively, build strong relationships, and work well in teams.
-
Research Foundation: Albert Bandura's social learning theory, which highlights the significance of observation, imitation, and modeling in learning, guides our approach. Bandura’s research demonstrates that behavior is learned from the environment through social interactions, which informs our methods for enhancing social skills and relationship-building.
Emotional Awareness & Regulation
-
Aims to help individuals recognize, understand, and manage their emotions. This approach fosters emotional resilience, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being by teaching strategies for coping with emotional challenges.
-
Research Foundation: CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) provides a framework emphasizing self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. My approach integrates these evidence-based components to support emotional and social competence, ensuring a holistic development of emotional regulation skills.
Psychodynamic Lens
-
I incorporate insights from psychodynamic theories to understand the underlying psychological forces affecting behavior. This approach promotes self-awareness and personal growth by exploring past experiences and their impact on current behavior and thought patterns.
-
Research Foundation: By exploring the unconscious motivations and experiences that influence behavior, psychodynamic theories provide deep insights into personal development. Our approach uses these theories to help clients achieve self-awareness and address the root causes of their challenges, fostering meaningful and lasting personal growth.
